This is a high-low table that incorporates both cervical and lumbar decompression. There is no adjustability of flexion/extension, lateral bending nor rotation. The power source/control box sits on a pedestal at one end of the table providing a passive pull (instead of an active pull). A rope and pulley attach to either a Saunders Clinical Traction Device for cervical decompression therapy or to a lumbar belt for lumbar decompression therapy. Either static or intermittent mode can be chosen, but the maximum rest/hold times for intermittent traction are 99 seconds.
DRX 9000
This table offers supine only lumbar decompression with an optional cervical unit sold separately for an additional several thousand dollars. There is no adjustability of flexion/extension, lateral bending nor rotation. It is electronically powered using a nylon strap and pulleys to provide a passive pull. The table surface tilts to nearly vertical but there is no high/low adjustment. There are some extra patient comfort features such as a built in DVD player and headphones. Comes with marketing, installation and training.
Spine Med
This table offers only supine lumbar decompression at a steep price. A cervical decompression unit can be purchased separately. The table is fixed height with limited ability to change the flexion angle and no ability to change extension angles. There is also no adjustability for rotation or lateral bending. The system requires ample space to accommodate the separate computer console. There are some extra patient comfort features such as a built in DVD player and headphones. Comes with marketing, installation and training.
Accu-Spina
This high-priced table offers both lumbar and cervical decompression. It has high-low adjustment and tilt access. There is no adjustability of flexion/extension, lateral bending nor rotation. It is electronically powered using a nylon strap and pulleys to provide a passive pull. The complete package requires an entire treatment room to accommodate the table, the power source tower, and PC stand. There are some extra patient comfort features such as a built in DVD player and headphones. A marketing package is included along with 2 day on-site training and installation.
Vax-D
This table features prone lumbar decompression only. There is no adjustability of flexion/extension, lateral bending nor rotation. The system requires ample space to accommodate the separate computer console. It is electronically powered using a nylon strap and pulleys to provide a passive pull and does not have high/low capability. A marketing package, research package, training and installation are provided.
The Vax-D manufacturers claim a proprietary cycling mechanism that is actually simply a pre-programmed intermittent traction mode. The same forces and cycling can be replicated by entering the appropriate rest/hold cycle times on the 3D ActiveTrac's user interface. You cannot perform cervical traction or adjust the table's position in
lexion/extension, lateral bending or rotation with the Vax-D.
The clinician console is separate from the traction device, so it takes up more space. Rather than using a thoracic harness or belt, the patient holds onto bars to stabilize the upper body. The Vax-D protocol recommends traction be given in the prone position. The lower half of the table moves actively, similar to the 3D ActiveTrac.
Lordex
This table only offers lumbar decompression. There is no adjustability of flexion/extension, lateral bending nor rotation. The complete package requires an entire treatment room to accommodate the table, power source tower, and separate exercise machine. It is electronically powered using a nylon strap and pulleys to provide a passive pull. A marketing package, research package, training and installation are provided.
BEYKI MP. TRAC
It is designed to exert a therapeutic distraction force on the patients spine to relieve pressures on structures that may be causing pain.
